Economics Club

VISION

There are 1011 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers.
Richard Feynman (1918 - 1988)

Economics is a social science which learned men have found harder and harder to understand; as the famous physicist Richard Feynman puts it in his own words the enormity of Economics is too huge. Too much for us Engineers to comprehend completely but as we are poised to enter the World Economy it is imperative for us to have a fair understanding of the intricacies of this closely knit world.

The economics society is just an effort towards this humungous task and we look forward to learn through a practical as well as theoretical approach, improving our understanding and preparing ourselves for our future.

OBJECTIVE

The objectives of the current academic year are:

  1. To learn the basics of world economics, the functioning and the problems of the current economic system, banking, stock market etc.  through a series of lectures, discussions and projects.

  3. To work closely with the literary society in creating a culture of learning through creative writing and critically analysing papers and articles by renowned economists.
To simulate more conditions such as those of stock markets and economic crisis situations to develop the abilities of students to react in similar life time situations during employment and further.
