Dhoom ( Dance Club )

VISION

Dhoom (The Dance Club of DTU) was founded years back, with the objective of the creation of a dance culture in the college (now a university). However the club activities were confined to the college’s fest and the rest of the year was spent in hibernation. The vision of the current administration at the Dance Club of DTU is to expand the activities of the Club and facilitate the creation of an active and encouraging environment for dance enthusiasts in the university. The Club aims not only at an increase in the frequency of the dance sessions inside the university, but also aims at participating in more inter-college competitive events than it has done in the past. The Club also aims at identifying more talent from the 3000 plus student pool of the university, and providing them ample resources to foster and nurture their talent in a competitive environment. Besides that, the Club also wishes for the creation of regular dance classes inside the university, which it plans on achieving in the near future with the employment of an able choreographer. The Club vision also includes a successful Freshers’ Night, Annual Fest and a follow up to Crank Dat (the highly lauded Street Dance event held for the first time at EngiFest 2010).

OBJECTIVE

The objectives for the current Academic Year (2010-11) so as to facilitate its vision, are as follows:

  1. To identify more talent from the new batch of freshers and encourage them to practice and participate with the Dance Team of the college (RFZ), besides training them for the Freshers’ Night and the Annual Fest.
  2. To provide more resources to the Dance Team (pts. 3 & 4) and make full use of the competitive opportunities in the form of various college festivals during the year (Oct - Dec: IITs and North Campus; Jan – Apr: BITS and other engg colleges).
  3. To hire an external choreographer for the purpose of regulating the dance sessions for the Dance Teams as well as other dance enthusiasts in the university.
  4. To assign a permanent Dance Room for the Dance Team. (with mirrors and a sound system).
  5. To earn as many laurels in inter-college events for DTU as possible, by achieving pts. 2, 3 & 4.
  6. To hold a bigger event on the lines of Crank Dat (the Street Dance event) than its precedent at EngiFest 2010 at the Annual Fest.
