MA Economics


The MA Economics programme offered at USME,DTU has a strong foundation in core economics and leverages the University’s strengths in analytics and management by giving an option to study up to 3 electives from MBA (Business Analytics) and 4 optional audit courses in management (MBA). The students will get a chance to choose discipline-specific electives from cutting-edge emerging streams in economics such as Behavioural Economics, GIS and Remote Sensing, Spatial Econometrics, Energy Economics, Health Economics, Analytics, Applied Quantitative Finance and Emerging Financial Markets. The programme includes mandatory workshops on key economic/financial databases (NSSO, NFHS, ASI, CMIE, Eikon) as well as on hands on workshops/lab based courses in data extraction, visualization, analytics, modelling, simulation, primary data collection and analysis. The programme will offer an immersive industry exposure through projects and interactions.



ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• The candidate must be a graduate in any discipline with at least 50% of marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognized university.
• Candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PwD categories will be eligible for a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks criterion.
• In case the conversion formula is not provided by the concerned University/Institution, the equivalent percentage will be computed as per the DTU Guidelines i.e., Percentage of Marks = 10 x CGPA
• Candidates who are in the final year of graduation are also eligible to apply, provided they submit the proof of eligibility by a specific date to be decided by the Admission Committee, failing which their admission will be cancelled.
• There is no age limit for applying to the programme.

ADMISSION PROCESS
Admission to the programme will be based on the score obtained in any one of the following subjects in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) – PG exam being administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA):

(i) Candidates are hereby advised to register on the CUET (PG) portal and opt for any one of the above-mentioned subjects.

(ii) A separate registration form to apply for DTU’s MA (Economics) programme will be released around the time of the declaration of CUET PG results on the University’s official website www.dtu.ac.in Candidates will be required to fill in their CUET scores obtained in any one of the above courses in the application form.

(iii) Candidates are advised to keep checking the website www.dtu.ac.in for further updates regarding the admission process for M.A. (Economics).
