Long Term Events
1. Adolescent Awareness Drives
Under its Adolescent Awareness Drive, volunteers educate the girls and boys of age group 13-16 related to puberty changes, superstitions related to menstruation, health and hygiene, women rights etc. by showing videos, presentation, quiz, pamphlet distribution and one to one interactions

2. Kalaam Ko Salaam |
|
This program will cover under its purview, teaching science through experiments, English as well as moral education to the children of Shubhakshiksha Educational Society. |
|
|
|
|
3. Teach India Campaign |
|
Under this campaign, NSS DTU volunteers teach students from Grade II to V every Sunday for two hours at Harijan Sewak Sangh School near GTB Nagar metro station. |
|
|
|
|
4. Indian Road Safety Campaign |
|
It aims to spread awareness about road safety with the help of youth, by organizing lectures, internship opportunities and several other initiatives. |
|
|
|
|
5. Shikarpur Teaching Camp |
|
NSS DTU organized a five day Special Rural Camp at Gadhaiya village in district Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. Forty seven NSS volunteers stayed in Gadhaiya from October 8, 2016 to October 12, 2016. |
|
|
|
|
6. Solar Power Library Setup |
|
A 250 watt solar panel was set up by the volunteers on the rooftop of the village library with over 1000 books collected including NCERT English and Hindi Books. |
|
|
|
|
7. English Speaking Classes |
|
Our volunteers taught English language basics to the children of different age groups at the primary village school. |
|
|
|
|
8. City Decoration |
|
In Gadhaiya, we decorated the village walls to spread messages against social evils prevalant in the rural part of our society like negligence of girl education and smoking habits. |
|
|
|
|
9. Household Survey |
|
This was done primarily to figure out the day to day problems which villagers are facing including their health problems and to spread awareness on various beneficial government schemes, pension and loan related schemes. |
|
|
|
|
10. Computer Training Project |
|
We taught the students how to use the computer and the internet in making their lives easier. |
|
|
|
|
11. Rangoli and Drawing Competition |
|
We organised a Rangoli making competition and a drawing competition among children. |
|
|
|
|
12.Career Counselling Session |
|
The youth of Gadhaiya village were informed about various career options that can be pursued after secondary and senior secondary education. |
|
|
|
|
13.Adolescent Awareness Session |
|
The female volunteers of our unit conducted an adolescent awareness session for the teenage girls of Gadhaiya in which they had a discussion on the problems faced by females regarding sanitation and health during menstruation. |
|

Short Term Events |
|
14.Yamuna Biodiversity Park |
|
On 21st January 2017, volunteers from NSS DTU visited the Yamuna Biodiversity Park in Delhi. The visit focused on a study of the effects of humans on flora and fauna. |
|
|
|
|
15.Blood Donation Camp |
|
NSS DTU organized Blood Donation Camp that was organised in collaboration with BloodConnect on 1st February 2017 at the Civil Convocation hall. The camp received a total of 206 successful donations from DTU students. |

|
|
16.EWS Camp |
|
On 28th and 29th January, NSS DTU volunteers visited a penurious village in Shahbad to help children aged below 6 years to get admission into both private and public schools in Delhi. |
|
|
|
|
17.Teach For India Workshop |
|
A four-member team from NSS-DTU attended a workshop conducted by LEAP (BITS Pilani) in collaboration with NSS-IIT Delhi and Teach For India on 22 January,2017 at IIT Delhi. |
|
|
|
|
18.Winter Donation Drive |
|
NSS DTU organised a winter donation drive from 3rd to 8th November with the motive of helping the deprived endure the upcoming chilling winters of Delhi. As many as 50 people donated around 200 items which include cardigans, sweaters, jackets, shawls, blankets, jeans etc. |

19.Green Diwali 23 - 28 October |
|
NSS DTU conducted an online awareness campaign, “Green Diwali 2016” in which we kept updating the readers of the page with facts and figures, news articles and posters to wishes and pleasantries for the whole festive week of Diwali. |
|
|
|
|
20.Joy of Giving |
|
NSS DTU organized the Joy of Giving Week from the 3rd to 7th October. The campaign saw an overwhelming response and we received donations of over 1000 books, clothes and stationary. |
|
|
|
|
21.Diwali Celebration 29 October |
|
NSS DTU, continuing with its last year initiative, offered gifts to their children on the eve of Deepawali. |
|
|
|
|
22.Swachch Bharat Abhiyan |
|
On 27th October 2016, NSS DTU volunteers inspired by Swachch Bharat Abhiyan set out to clean our surroundings on the onset of Diwali. While last to last year, our cleanliness campaign was within our University campus, this year we broadened our reach by cleaning several parks around Rohini Sector 16. |

23.Visit to Ambedkar Hospital |
|
On 27th of August 2016, our volunteers Manas and Vaishali visited the Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini with Shubhakshika, an NGO which works for child welfare |

24.Unity in Diversity |
|
On 13th August 2016, NSS-DTU organized 'Hands of Unity' on campus celebrating Solidarity amongst our masses. College students designed the tri-colour using hand imprints which one can see on the Mechanical Canteen notice board. |
|
|
|
|
25.Paper Wastage and Recycling Awareness Campaign |
|
NSS-DTU organized a two-day survey on paper consumption as part of our campaign to prevent Paper Wastage and promote Recycling on 10th August and 11th August last year. |
|
|
|
|
26.Toys From Trash Worshop |
|
we visited Shubhakshika Bal Ashram Grah near the college campus on 18 February, and organized a workshop - "Toys From Trash", inspired from Arvind Gupta toys and books and his art of toy making from waste material. |

|
27.Organ donation awareness Campaign |
|
On 2nd February 2016, an organ donation awareness campaign in collaboration with ORGAN (Organ Receiving And Giving Awareness Network) was organized. |

28.World Kidney Day |
|
Volunteers of NSS-DTU attended an awareness programme on the causes and prevention of renal diseases on World Kidney Day, celebrated on 10th March. |
