Delhi Technological University (formerly Delhi College of Engineering) is one of
the India’s leading Engineering and Technological Universities. The university is
continuously striving and proved its worth through two important pillars, teaching and
research. The start of the Centre for Extension and Field Outreach in DTU as third
pillar is a major step taken by the university towards its responsibility for the deprived
off sections of the society who have not got the opportunity of joining the university
and makes aware the younger students about the professional education.
A number of steps have been taken by the Centre in this regard like adopting villages,
conducting classes in the schools of adopted villages and other schools, conducting
open house programs for the students at the Delhi schools, organizing national level
Exploring Engineering programs for X, XI and XII students, capacity building programs
for the skilled and unskilled workforce, social awareness program and many more.
In the recent past during challenging times of the Covid 19 virus, the Centre has also
been conducting online lectures with the help of experts from different fields. In
addition to that the Centre has also been involved in one of the ambitious programs of
university i.e. Lab on Wheels. Through Lab on wheels the Centre has started a computer
course namely “Basic Computer Course” (BCC). Initially it is being implemented in
some schools owned by Government of NCT of Delhi.
The Centre has also designed, developed and implemented one of the most ambitious
projects of Government of NCT of Delhi named as “Desh Ke Mentor” under the ambit
of Youth for Education program of Directorate of Education.
The Centre has completed 6 years of its existence and during this short span it has
gained an elite space. During this period many activities have been started and
number of activities are planned and in pipeline.
I am sure that under the able guidance of visionary Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, continuous
support and hard work of Associate Dean, the Centre will successfully deliver its
important responsibilities towards the society.
