DCE AUV Team returns with the Best Improved Team Awards



The Delhi College of Engineering's Autonomous Underwater Vehicle team returned from SanDiego California with the award for the best improved team at the competition organised by The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), the world's largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to advancing the unmanned systems community. They also bagged the 9th place overall. Their camera was tested at at the TIFAC Core of Optical Fiber in DCE.
A zone plate is a device used to focus light. Unlike lenses however, zone plates use diffraction instead of refraction. Created by Augustin-Jean Fresnel, they are sometimes called Fresnel zone plates in his honor. The zone plate's focusing ability is an extension of the Arago spot phenomenon caused by diffraction from an opaque disc.
