PROFILE

Dr. Puneet Singh Gautam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Delhi Technological University, Delhi. He specializes in Thermal Engineering, focusing on Internal Combustion Engines, Alternative Fuels, Water-Emulsified Fuels, Engine Emissions, Combustion Analysis, and Combustion Modeling. He has established a state-of-the-art IC Engine Laboratory and conducts research on sustainable fuel technologies for emission reduction. His work appears in high-impact SCI journals such as Fuel and Biomass and Bioenergy. He received the Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Best Teacher Award 2023.

He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Thermal Engineering) from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar (2022), with a thesis on combustion, performance, and emission characteristics of water-emulsified fuels in CI engines. He completed his M.Tech (Thermal Engineering) and B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the same university in 2017 and 2014, respectively. His research interests include biodiesel blends, vehicle testing, combustion modeling, and machine learning optimization in IC engines.

Dr. Gautam joined DTU in Jan 2026. Previously, he served as Assistant Professor at IIMT University, Meerut (2022–2025), where he taught Thermal Engineering, IC Engines, Automobile Engineering, and Thermodynamics. He guided two M.Tech theses and is currently mentoring two Ph.D. scholars. He also set up an advanced IC Engine Research Laboratory.
