PROFILE

About Research

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) represents a critical and escalating challenge to global health as many antibiotics are losing efficacy against emerging multidrug-resistant pathogens. Resistance arises naturally through genetic mutations and horizontal gene transfer, with its spread accelerated by the overuse of antibiotics in humans, animals, and agriculture. Environmental dissemination further connects AMR across humans, animals, and ecosystems, emphasizing the importance of a One-Health framework to address this complex issue.

Our laboratory investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying the evolution and spread of antibiotic resistance. We focus on bacterial virulence and fitness factors, including biofilm formation, while also developing innovative therapeutic strategies to counteract resistant infections. By integrating genomic, transcriptomic, and phenotypic analyses, we aim to deepen the understanding of AMR dynamics and contribute to the development of effective interventions against global infectious disease threats.
