PROFILE
Dr. Kapil Chaudhri is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Delhi Technological University (DTU), New Delhi. He specializes in Thermal Engineering, Renewable Energy, and Solar Energy Heat Transfer, with a particular focus on the design, experimental investigation, and performance enhancement of solar thermal systems.
His research primarily focuses on solar air heaters with artificially roughened absorber plates for enhanced energy exchange and improved thermohydraulic performance. His work encompasses experimental investigations, development of novel absorber-plate roughness geometries, thermohydraulic analysis, correlation development, exergy analysis, and performance optimization of solar air heating systems. His doctoral research involved the thermal performance analysis of solar air heaters employing innovative artificial roughness configurations, including rhombus-shaped roughness, and their validation under controlled and outdoor operating conditions.
His broader research interests include heat transfer enhancement, solar thermal energy systems, renewable energy technologies, energy-efficient thermal systems, refrigeration and air conditioning, and hybrid solar energy systems. His current research interests extend toward the integration of enhanced solar thermal collectors with thermoelectric energy conversion for developing efficient and sustainable energy systems.
Dr. Chaudhri is particularly interested in experimental and application-oriented research aimed at developing practical, energy-efficient thermal systems. His work combines experimental analysis, empirical correlation development, thermohydraulic performance evaluation, and energy/exergy assessment to support the development of advanced renewable-energy technologies.
