Technology Transferred

  1. Cytological samples frequently are inadequate, this creates problem in diagnosis of malignant cancer particularly so in lung neoplasms. Repeat FNAC are often not advisable particularly in Cancer cases due to their poor health conditions. To sort out this problem a method was found out whereby the needle used for cytological aspirations was rinsed and the imprint of the rinsed fluid was used to diagnose lung carcinomas. This technology was published and widely circulated amongst world scientific community. The reference is as follows: Monika, Kolte SS, Rawat DS, Suri JC, Mandal AK.   1. Benzene has been widely used as a solvent in different diagnostic laboratories. This cause lot of exposure to the laboratory workers giving rise to toxicity. A study was conducted to find Benzene toxicity in health care settings. This work was widely considered in Delhi Government and following its publication benzene was banned from Laboratories by Delhi Government. Major Scientific Contributions

  • I have a vast number of years of experience in diagnostics, teaching and research; have contributed in the field of Medical Science through 154 National and International Publications. I have been Guest speaker in different plenary sessions. I also had international collaboration with international consortium consisting of France, Israel and Germany along with School of Life Sciences, JNU. I have been Guest Reviewer in international Journal of Environmental Health and Preventive Medicine published by Japanese Society for Hygiene, Tokyo, Japan.

 

  • Most active contribution in the field of science was during Covid pandemic when I was made the Nodal Officer of Covid pandemic representing whole of Andaman and Nicobar group of islands. I was instrumental in increasing the bed strength of the only tertiary care hospital making them fully oxygen enabled. I also started PSA plant so that oxygen deficiency is never felt by the patients. During this period an extensive serosurveillance was done covering 5000 people, this resulted in two international papers [Reference: 1). Kumar D, Burma A, Kumar Mandal A.   • I was also Deputy Director General Medical Education in the ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and Vice President National Board of Examination during these tenure I richly contributed to the scientific curriculum and mode of teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students across the country.

 

           

  • I have been teaching in MAMC and VMMC New Delhi for last 32 years. I wrote 5 books in the field of Pathology.
  • Currently I am chairing the NABL and NABH of Sharda Hospital in addition to being head of Department of Pathology, Central Lab and Blood bank.
