Significant Contributions at Different Positions:

1. As Dean (Academic) Delhi College of Engineering (2002-2005)

  • Four new courses of undergraduate studies viz., Biotechnology, Food Technology, Aerospace Engineering and Automobile Engineering were planned
  • Proposal submitted to AICTE for approval
  • Proposal for adequate buildings, infrastructure, faculty, finance etc. were incorporated in plan document
  • Streamlined the issues related with UG students, viz., issue of provisional certificates, mark-sheets, degree certificate, refund of security, scholarships etc.
  • New look college Prospectus-2k3-2k4, and Prospectus-04/05 were designed and got printed.
  • College Conocation-2004 held on April 28, 2004 and College Convocation-2005 is proposed for October-2005

 

2. As Dean (P.G. Studies & Research) Delhi College of Engineering(2002-2005)

  • Eleven new courses of Post-graduate studies for various departments of science and engineering  were planned
  • Proposal submitted to AICTE for approval
  • Proposal for adequate buildings, infrastructure, faculty, finance etc. were incorporated in plan document
  • Streamlined the issues related with PG students, viz., timely examination, disbursal of scholarship, refund of security etc.
  • Coordination with Delhi University strengthened, resulting into timely declaration of result, issue of mark-sheets, degrees certificate, submission of dissertations etc.

 

3. As Chairman, Sports Committee, Delhi College of Engineering (1995-1998, 2003-05)

  • Facilities for sports activities improved. Students won several inter-college tournaments, professional college meets
  • Annual sports meet AERNA and professional college meet in 5 games were successfully organized
  • A National program and curriculum development workshop on Sports Engineering organized.
  • A building erected near the sports ground consisting of sitting room, conference hall, changing room, store for better coordination.

 

4. As Head of the Department (Biotechnology) DCE( 2004-06 & 07-10)

  • Initiatives taken to implement the B.E. (Biotechnology) course from the Academic Session 2004.
  • Faculty identified, laboratory planned and developed and smooth beginning of the course was ensured.
  • Specialized presentations on various aspects of biotechnology by experts were organized.
  • A building plan consisting of class room, seminar room, eight laboratories, animal house, research laboratory, activity center, display center etc. formulated a submitted for approval.
  • Equipment, chemicals and glass wares for all the laboratories identified and requisition submitted for tendering and purchase.
  • M.Tech in Bioinformatics introduced in 2010.
  • M.Tech. Biotechnology to be introduced.

5. As Director (Self Finance Scheme), Bundelkhand University(1999-2002)

  • 34 Institutes of higher learning were established in the University
  • Academic courses for each institute were designed and developed
  • Ordinances & curriculum were framed
  • Class-rooms, laboratories, library, instruments, chemicals, glassware, furniture etc. were planned and procured
  • Admission process devised and entrance test organized
  • Recruitment of teaching and supporting staff planned and implemented
  • Periodical tests, seminars, industrial training, annual examination, campus selection organized
  • Conferences in various subjects organized
  • Students problems were listened and solved
  • NOC/Affiliation/ recognition of central bodies(AICTE, PCI, NCTE, UGC etc.) obtained for technical, management, pharmacy, education courses.

6. As Officiating Registrar, Bundelkhand University(2000-2002)

  • Annual examination-2001 conducted successfully and result declared in time before June 30, 2001
  • All the admission tests: SFS Courses Admission test, B.Ed. Admission Test, Law admission Test, Combined UG/PG Admission tests were conducted smoothly and result/ merit list announced within 10-15 days.
  • Centralized admission/ counseling organized for B.Ed., Law, PG courses in Science & Agriculture and B.Sc. (Ag) admission first time in the University
  • Ordinances for all the SFS courses prepared and curriculum compiled in the form of bound volumes
  • Affiliation/ recognition of AICTE/ PCI was obtained for the Engineering/ Management/ Pharmacy courses. Applications to NCTE were sent again. Permission has been obtained to introduced B.Ed., M.Ed., and B.P.Ed. in the University Campus.

7. As Officiating Finance Officer, Bundelkhand University(2000-2002)

  • Financial position consolidated
  • New fee structure were implemented for SFS courses
  • Payments to all the teachers for examination were released
  • New finance proposal were sent to UGC/ AICTE/ Govt. of U.P.

8. As Project Officer, Delhi College of Engineering(1994-96)

  • Building plans revised
  • Appropriate sanctions were obtained from DUAC
  • Construction work accelerated and periodical checking made
  • Targets were assigned and completion monitored
  • Class room furniture, lab furniture and other furnishings procured
  • Shifting of old campus to new campus were done smoothly

9. As Head, Advanced Center of Entrepreneurship Development, DCE( 1993-1999& 2003-05)

  • An advanced center for entrepreneurship development was planned, created and made functional 
  • Entrepreneurship awareness camps, Entrepreneurship development program, Personality Development Program and national program on Entrepreneurship were organized
  • Workbook for Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps compiled.
  • First Delhi College of Engineering- Polymer Industry Interaction Meet was organized

10. As Project Director, Vocational Training, UIIC, University of Delhi(1989-1996)

  • Vocational training in Computer hardware, Computer software, electroplating, Leather Garments Designing, Manufacturing and Servicing of Electrical Gadgets, Assembling & Servicing of TV-VCR were organized under DST Project
  • Entrepreneurship awareness camps, Entrepreneurship development program, Personality Development Program were organized for the participants of above mentioned training.
  • Special training programs were started for SC/St candidates with financial assistance from Delhi Scheduled Caste Financial & Development Corporation, Government of Delhi in the following trades:

    • Assembling & Servicing of TV-VCR

  • More than 3000 trainees were trained in different trades
  • Proposal for establishing Ambedkar Bhawan in Delhi University was submitted to MoSW, Government of India.
  • Proposal for establishing Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Park (STEP) in Delhi University was submitted to DST.

 PROFESSOR RAMESH CHANDRA SHARMA

(A Brief Biographical Sketch)

 

 

Born on October 2nd, 1951 at Manzoorgarhi (Aligarh) in Uttar Pradesh, Professor Ramesh Chandra Sharma earned Gold Medal in M.Sc. (Chemistry) in 1972. He obtained his Doctorate Degree from University of Delhi in 1977 under the supervision of Prof. H.C.Gaur and continued to work in his laboratory & helped 6 students to earn their Ph.D. Degree from University of Delh.  Dr. Sharma enriched his knowledge by attending specialized courses at IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, Roorkee Univeristy, CECRI Karaikudi, NIESBUD Delhi and NISIET Hydrabad. He has been accredited Professional Trainer for Entrepreneurship Motivation and Small Business Development Training by NIESBUD Delhi and NISIET Hydrabad.

Prof. Sharma has over 43 years of experience of research, over 38 years of experience of teaching UG & PG classes and 24 years of experience of professional trainer for entrepreneurship development. Prof. Sharma has made significant contribution in the study of transport phenomenon in molten electrolytes and ionic solutions and published 12 papers in American and European journals. Later on, he concentrated on the R&D in polymer science & technology specially electrically conducting polymers and superplasticizers. Prof. Sharma has conducted research in the area of food science, enzymatic extraction of oils and bio-methanation of vegetable waste. Presently Prof. Sharma is taking keen interest in the R&D of Biopolymers, grafted biopolymers, bioactive polymers, biodegradable polymers, biomedical polymers etc. He has published 28 research papers in national and international journals, presented and published his work at various seminars & conferences in the form of 46 articles, edited 10 proceedings of National Seminars, written 4 books and organized 66 seminars/conferences on various themes of current interests. He has supervised large number of students for their Ph.D. Degree, M.Sc. in food science and M.E. Degree in polymer technology. Prof. Sharma has also undertaken sponsored research project of CSIR & UGC.

Prof. Sharma has taken keen interest in the development of entrepreneurial culture in the large number of academic institutions affiliated to Delhi University. He has organized more than 100 Entrepreneurship Awareness and Motivation Programs for the science & technology students. He has also successfully conducted the vocational training programs for the benefits of SC/ST candidates of Delhi. He has also organized multi-purpose mechanic training under a project financed by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. Prof. Sharma has done an excellent work for the academic development of Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. He was Director (self-financed courses) for 3 years at Bundelkhand University (during Sept. 1999 to Sept 2002) during which large number of vocational, technical, management courses were introduced. During this period Prof. Sharma also acquired the skills of University administration as he occupied the officiating position of Finance Officer, Registrar and Dean. Not only he has successfully conducted the various entrance examination of University for 3 years, he was also associated with the conduct of UP CPMT examination-2002.

Prof. Sharma has been awarded with the Award of Honor by Soka University Japan.  He is life member and honorary member of several National and International Professional societies. Prof. Sharma brings with him a combination of first class academician, an active research worker, visionary educational administrator, professional trainer with positive and entrepreneurial attitude and highly professional approach for intimate industry interaction. Prof. Sharma has a unique vision of his own for educational system. He believes in providing flexible and innovative curriculum having optical mix of State-of-art theoretical knowledge, creative practical skills, management, entrepreneurship and personality development. He has strong faith that R&D is important for appropriate technology and sustainable development. Intimate Industry-Institution partnership, efficient administration, modernization of infrastructure and faculty motivation are essential for a successful institution. Prof. Sharma also believes in optimal utilization of resources and advocates for cost reduction in higher technical and vocational education.
