Born in August 1967 in Uttar Pradesh, India, Prof. Naveen Kumar did B.E. from Dayal Bagh Educational Institute, Agra, M.Tech. from IIT Delhi, and Ph.D. from the University of Delhi. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE), UK; Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (FIE), India and Charted Engineer, Engineering Council, U.K. His research interests include; alternative fuels with special emphasis on biofuels, decentralized energy systems, renewable energy, waste recycling, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development.

Presently working as a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Delhi Technological University (Formerly Delhi College of Engineering) since 1996, Prof. Kumar possesses 30+ years of experience in academics, industry, and research. Prof. Kumar has rich administrative experience and worked as Head of the Department; Dean, Students' Welfare; Dean, International Collaboration; Coordinator, TEQIP II Project; Chairman, Board of Discipline; Proctor; Chairman, Cultural Council; Chairman; Chairman, Central Purchase Committee; B.Tech., Admission Committee amongst many other important responsibility.

In addition to teaching at P.G. and U.G. levels, Prof. Naveen Kumar has made a significant contribution to R&D in alternative fuels for use in various off-road engines and vehicles. He has undertaken Sponsored Research Projects from Government and Industrial Houses such as the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the Petroleum Conservation Research Association, and Yanmar Co. Ltd., Japan. He had been a principal consultant in a World Bank Sponsored project, "Fences for Fuel" in India. He also worked on an Indo-Spanish Collaborative project. He has published more than 130 research papers (60+ SCI, 60+ Scopus) in International Journals of repute and more than 100 in Indian Journals and Conferences. In addition, he also has 09 books/book chapters to his credit. 17 Ph.D. scholars have already been awarded degrees under his supervision, whereas 5 are in a different stage of their research pursuit. 51 M.Tech. Students have also completed their projects/degrees under his guidance.

Prof. Kumar has presented his research work at Universities, research organizations, and industries abroad, particularly at the University of Minnesota, University of South Florida, University of North Texas, University of Murcia, Kongju National University, Korea Institute of Energy Research, Yonsei University, National Research Institute for Chemical Technology, Materials & Energy Research Center & the Babol Noshirvani University of Technology, etc. He has more than 20 overseas professional visits to his credit. He is the Editor-in-Chief of 'Journal of Biofuels.' He is also on the editorial board of many journals and works as a reviewer for many journals published by ASME, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, etc.

Prof. Kumar brings a combination of being a distinguished academician, an exemplary researcher, a visionary educational administrator, a professional consultant with a positive attitude, and a profoundly professional approach to intimate industry interaction. Prof. Kumar has a unique vision of his own for the educational system. He believes in providing a malleable and ingenious curriculum having an optimal mix of State-of-art theoretical knowledge, creative practical skills, management, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. He also believes that the modernization of infrastructure and faculty motivation is essential for a world-class institution. Prof. Kumar also believes in the optimal utilization of resources and advocates for cost reduction in higher technical and vocational education. He was selected as Director, Bundelkhand Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jhansi (A Government of UP Institution), and was also offered the position of Director, KIET, Ghaziabad.
