The Department of Applied Mathematics offers courses to undergraduate and post-graduate students of various engineering disciplines. The syllabi have been designed in the areas of Applied Mathematics, Computational Techniques and Statistical Modeling to impart the sound knowledge of the various mathematical tools to be used and their applications in the engineering disciplines. In addition to the various courses in the engineering disciplines, specifically courses like Discrete Structure, Information Theory & Coding and courses in programming languages are being taught by the faculty of the department. The Department has well qualified teaching faculty consisting of one professor, three assistant professors and seven lecturers. The necessary expertise are available in the research areas of Information Theory & its Applications, Graph Theory, Numerical Simulation, Mathematical Statistics, Number theory, General Theory of Relativity & Cosmology, Complex Analysis, Category Theory and Approximation Theory. The Department is in the process of renovating the existing labs with the latest available computational facilities, and also plans to propose an independent Post-Graduate program in the near future. A few full-time PhD scholarships are also available.
