VISION

Information Technology has changed the face of the world with its various upcoming technologies in diverse fields of industry and education. The career prospects for the younger generation, in Information Technology, are stretched over a wide domain, which comprise service industry such as banking insurance and communication. Other encompass areas that encompass scope for IT and have grown in recent year are medicine, governance, entertainment and multimedia, scientific research, business intelligence solutions and knowledge discovery in databases. Taking into account the above knowledge DTU started a B.E. in Information technology from academic session 2002-2003 with an intake of 60 students.
Emphasis of B.E. Information Technology curriculum is on computer science, software development, networking, communication, web engineering, security, hardware design and management. This course is designed to provide a foundation of basic subjects like software development, networking, computer architecture and design, programming, operating systems, multimedia and graphics communications. Specialised knowledge on the analysis and design of information systems, information security, mobile communications, artificial intelligence, soft computing, digital signal processing computer vision and expert systems is imparted. In addition there are various electives related to IT areas.. Further, industrial training forms an important component of Information Technology curriculum so as the students are able to meet the challenges faced by today’s industries. The Department of Information Technology has state-of-art laboratories in the various disciplines such as computer networking Lab., satellite communication lab., microwave CAD lab., optical communication lab., web engineering lab., advanced signal processing lab., embedded systems lab.
