Rapid Action Kinsfolk Team

Rapid Action Kinsfolk Team (RAKT) is an initiative by NSS DTU to connect voluntary blood donors with the recipients. We are a group of volunteers who constantly endeavour to search for and contact blood donors. Our vision is to ensure that the recipients in and around Delhi get blood on time and for free. After receiving a request for blood donation, our team is responsible for arranging a donor. We have a rich database of donors which are contacted in a case of emergency.

What do we do?

Patients, blood donation centers, and medical clinics in urgent need of blood are a common sight today. Most individuals choose to disregard these events. We, at RAKT, become their voice, when their quiet shout of help blurs amongst the general public. A single donation only takes 15 minutes of our time, so why don't we all join in and support them?

RAKT, an initiative by the National Service Scheme, DTU, connects voluntary blood donors with the recipients. We, at RAKT, have been working tirelessly round the clock to create a network of potential blood donors, verifying resource leads, arranging emergency beds and medications for the people in need, especially during the peak of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

What all we have done till date?

Since the second wave of COVID-19, our team has engaged with over 100 instances each day, necessitating blood donation, hospital/oxygen bed requirements, and other emergency resources. Our team works around the clock to secure oxygen cylinders and blood donors for patients and those suffering from blood disorders. It is a symbol of encouragement for us to make a modest but substantial difference in the lives of others around us. Since its revival in 2020, we have helped over 1000+ people, ranging from a six-month-old infant to people suffering from typical age-related ailments, and have restored thousands of smiles to their faces.

How do we work?

  • RAKT's operations team connects willing blood donors with those most in need from their database.
  • Following the authentication of the patient's information, the operations team connects the required blood group with the repository of possible donors' information, persuading them to donate blood.
  • We also use our social media accounts to broaden the scope of these instances so that a donor with the desired blood group can be found as soon as reasonably practicable.
  • All volunteers make sure that the case information is retweeted on Twitter, where we already have over 600 followers.
  • We expand our reach to the broader populace and allow us to interact with folks on other platforms with similar goals.
  • All contacts with the donor are made by RAKT volunteers using any medium accessible.

An old saying goes, "Action speaks louder than words." We understand that every hour spent in the hospital by a patient is precious. We ensure that all of our procedures are completed in seconds rather than minutes as a response. Please take a look at our social media handles to see how delighted we are with our accomplishments!
