Overview & Objective

Globally efforts are being made by societies to preserve their heritage and culture, so that it can be transferred to future generation effortlessly. The diverse facets of heritage attracts multi/interdisciplinary investigations. This made Digital Heritage a fertile ground for methodological exploration. Rapid, cultural, political and technological change continuously reshapes our understanding of Heritage. Hence it is necessary to critically reflect on how we capture and research cultural heritage and how it can be digitally reconstructed with authenticity.

This workshop is going to be organized with an aim to provide a common platform for curators of heritage sites, scholars, researchers and professionals to deliberate and exchange ideas to formulate and appreciate the problems and also the plausible solution technologies. We plan to arrange oral presentations by eminent scientists as well as contributory papers based on research experience. Theme of this edition of workshop is ' Digital Archiving and Restoration '. Main topics of interest include, but not limited to:

1. Data acquisition in Cultural and Historical Landscapes and documentation technologies
2. Integration of tangible and intangible components of culture
3. Reconstruction/Recreation of Heritage through 3D Reconstruction and Image Restoration
4. Haptic rendering including sound synthesis
5. Presentation of Heritage through Augmented Reality (AR)
6. Storytelling in Virtual Reality (VR)
7. Information Access and Extension for Manuscripts
8. Analysis of architecture and sculpture of historical monuments
9. OCR of ancient manuscripts
10. Processing of stone inscription
11. Digital preservation of ecological and underwater heritage
12. Sounds-capes of Spoken Languages
13. Capacity Building:
 a) A Crowd-sourcing Platform, Big Data, Multimedia databases and digital libraries
 b) Development of a solution for automated data cleanup and filtering
 c) Development of Sensing and Actuation Technologies for Heritage Applications
